In this day long workshop, we will immerse ourselves into the magical world of gel printing and learn how to use this simple and uniquely creative process on virtually any textile. I will teach you how to successfully achieve unusual prints and extraordinary results with this fascinating tool. You'll learn how to transform canvas, cotton, cotton blends and even those with manufactured prints to suit your personal palette. Bring what's in your stash and your favourite acrylic paints to experiment with. You will be able to use what you design as art quilt panels, as underpaintings for mixed media or other art work, as backgrounds to embroider on, or as framed original art.

Tap into a whimsical creative centre within yourself as we surrender to the unexpected, playful results of gel printing on a foundation cloth. It's fun and addictive.

Supply List
Students are asked to bring their own gel plate and brayer to class. As well, if students have favourite acrylic paints, stencils or stamps in their stash, bring them along but not necessary.

Material Fee Includes
Practice papers and foundation cloth (to keep) as well as paints; mark making tools; stencils (to be returned at the end of the class)

Bio
I am a textile collage artist and art doll designer. My artwork has been proudly featured several times in Stampington & Co.'s gorgeous print magazines, including Art Quilting Studio Magazine, Green Craft, Art Journaling and Somerset Studio. I have also been showcased on StitchesbyJulia, a popular YouTube host and textile artist, who dedicated an entire playlist to my collaged snippet rolls. I have been teaching and inspiring the creative spirits of others for over 15 years. I also design textile collages for other artists to use in their own works. The authenticity of my work is expressed most clearly amongst loose threads, unconventional colour combinations, raw edges and abstraction. Some of my creations can be found on instagram at: https://www.instagram.com/kitschychic
