The Art of the Horse Pastel Workshop - Joan Larson - September 15 - 9:30 to 3pm, 2021
Come join the acclaimed artist Joan Larson, in learning representative pastel work. This one day workshop is suitable for those who have some experience with the medium of pastel already.
This one day workshop will focus on drawing and construction of the horse.
“Understanding how to get the correct proportions and structure is an essential part of creating artworks of these beautiful animals”
We will start with drawing from models (supplied by Joan) in order to learn about proportions and construction of the horse.
In the afternoon we will do full tonal drawing using black & white charcoal on toned paper.
How to use photographs effectively.
How to enlarge and transfer your photo or drawing in preparation for painting .
Individual features of the horse which can present problems such as:
- how to make the eye look alive
- how to draw the fetlock/hoof accurately
- hind limb angles
Please note that contemporaneous health guidelines are in place, and students will be required to wear masks during their class, which is limited to 6 students. Students must bring their own water containers as well as paper towels etc. Supply list will be provided upon purchase of the workshop.
