Textile Design – January 2023

This two part workshop is a full on class for all levels to learn Fabric Printmaking.  You will be introduced to many applications for embellishing textiles with your original designs.  Demos and examples of various techniques will be shown, and the instructor (Mary Leigh) will be guiding you throughout the process.

Relief printing (lino or foam, plates) will be introduced to handprint a multitude of applications for fabric.  You will bring your own textiles: blank clothing, yardage (new or used), in order to experiment when applying surface design on to your blank canvases by using methods such as “foot pressure”and table top pressure!  No printmaking presses will be used in this class.

This will enable you to continue your new skills anywhere.

The class will also cover mono-type printmaking on fabric, as well as the use of found object stamping.

*other supplies to bring are apron, newsprint, soft sole slippers or extra socks, old towel, maybe some simple sketches for designs, and of course, your imagination and humour.

“Printmaking is my passion because it is a mystery of ‘unsolved possibilities’  There is always a plot of unknown direction that can take you to cross roads of new places in colour and design in figurative or abstract locations.  I am never ho-hum…..always excited about making prints.”
