Join in on this small group, immersive photography workshop to ignite your creativity and pick up a few new (or old!) skills. This workshop might be for you if you desire a more hands on experience in your photographic journey, are interested in learning about analog photography, or if you are film curious and want to know what its all about.

The film photography workshop is a 3-part series that will go over the basics of shooting, developing, and printing film. Participants should anticipate small group learning, proximity, and moments of total darkness. Participants will walk away with film negatives of their images, and 5 of their images printed by themselves. Supplies are included, and no previous experience is necessary to attend.

The workshop will go over:
Part A- 2 hrs
  • What is film?
  • How to load film into a vintage camera
  •  How to establish more conscious creation & mindfulness through film photography
  • Tips to make a great image
Part B- 2 hrs
  • How to unload your film safely
  • The developing process- finding your way through darkness and chemicals
  • Anticipating the result
Part C- 2-4hrs
  • Printing an image
  • Navigating mistakes
  • Ways to enhance your image in the darkroom (Basics)
Melinda’s journey back into film photography was inspired by digital burnout and a desire to infuse more of the authentic self into her work. Along the way, Melinda discovered that the benefits to slowing to the speed of film had spilled over into many other areas of life. Determined to share this bit of stillness with others, this workshop was created to encourage others to consciously create, get curious, and have a little fun.

All classes and workshops are non-refundable. Cancellations made 7 days or more in advance of the workshop or class date will receive 100% credit. 6 days before class and no credit will be issued.
