Medium: hand-formed porcelain clay wave, glazed and fired. Mounted with concrete, sand, and resin on BC green slate. Slate is sourced from Port Renfrew, and is a rare green slate.
Size: 11 inches high, 10 inches long, 8 inches wide, approx 8 pounds.
Mary Flores creates hand sculpted pottery and jewellery inspired by the colours and forms of the sea. Her various artistic interests have ranged from working as a graphic artist, calligraphy, fibre art, jewellery design, and glass art over the last 40 years.
Having lived on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico, the South China Sea, and now the Salish Sea on Vancouver Island, Mary has always had a deep appreciation for the ocean and all its natural wonders. This can be seen in all of Mary’s work.
Mary resides in beautiful Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island.
