In 2013 Multiinstrumentalist Phil Dwyer was appointed as a Member of the Order Of Canada for “his contributions to jazz as a performer, composer and producer, and for increasing access to music education in his community.” In January 2015, he was recognized by the Royal Conservatory of Music as an Honorary Fellow. These distinctions arise from an illustrious thirty-year career collaborating with a storied roster of great musical artists, crossing stylistic and geographic borders. Phil has appeared on ten Juno Award-winning recordings, and over thirty nominated recordings. He is also a recipient of the prestigious K.M. Hunter Prize for excellence in the arts.

Bassist, John Hyde has shared the spotlight with jazz legends like Rosemary Clooney, Marion McPartland, Sheila Jordan, and Mark Murphy. His collaborations also extend to instrumental luminaries like P.J. Perry, Pepper Adams, and Bobby Shew.

John has left his mark in theatre, television, and radio, including performances with Alberta Theatre Projects, Theatre Calgary, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, The Edmonton Symphony and The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.

As an educator John taught music at Grant MacEwan University, Mount Royal University, and the University of Calgary. He also directed the Mount Royal Summer Jazz Workshop for 17 remarkable years, sculpting a jazz legacy that still resonates.
