Laura’s story begins in Windsor Ontario where she attended public school and graduated from the University of Windsor in 1964. Her mother, who was an inspiration, studied commercial art by correspondence (Diploma from the Department of Art Instruction, Meyer Both Company, Chicago Illinois, 1931.)
Moving to Deep River, Ontario to teach English and art at MacKenzie High School, Laura met a group of passionate watercolour painters who became her kindred spirits and best friends. “The Group of Six” painted and exhibited together both locally in Deep River and with the Ottawa Watercolour Society. Laura was awarded by jury the status Fellow of the Ottawa Watercolour Society in 2002. (FOWS)
Now living on Vancouver Island, Laura also paints in acrylic, ink and charcoal. In 2005 she was juried as an Active Member of The Federation of Canadian Artists. She has served for several years on the Executive of the local Arrowsmith Chapter of the FCA as Show Coordinator and President.
Her paintings have won many awards both in Vancouver and with the Arrowsmith Chapter, FCA.
