Drawing, sketching, and measured live construction are fundamental skills for all creative art. In this series, students will learn the essential principles and practical applications of drawing lines, curves, and geometric three-dimensional forms, as well as techniques for measuring angles and proportions for accurate transfer onto paper or canvas.
Participants will develop observational skills, learn to recognize and simplify shapes, and construct correct perspective. Classes will include drawing from live arranged setups as well as instruction on effectively using photographic reference images. Principles of composition, page layout, and framing considerations will also be explored.
The course will provide practical drawing applications tailored to students’ individual artistic goals and projects, reflecting methods commonly practiced by contemporary artists. Historical art precedents and accomplished reference works will further reinforce learning concepts and techniques.
Completed drawings will become valuable studies and keepsakes for students to frame, reference, and continue developing through future practice.

Bio
Born in Poland, Dorota Goede studied Architecture before immigrating to Canada in 1981. She graduated from Architectural Technology and completed her Bachelor of Architecture Degree at University of Toronto in 1989. Currently retired Architecture Professor she still loves learning and sharing knowledge by delivering professional art classes at the Nanoose Place, MAC and TOSH, often fundraising for local charities.
