Deb Peters feels fortunate to have an upbringing in a creative environment, at home and within her community. She was able to pursue her love of art through University of British Columbia in painting, drawing and theatre set designing. Eventually she developed another venue of creativity with pottery, selling throughout B.C., Yukon and Japan. Her career as a teacher allowed her to teach art to grades 1 through 12 and had the honour of being invited as a guest to university classes.
When retiring from Education, she embraced art as her main interest. She continues to be inspired by master artists, nature, travel, music and poetry. She has been in numerous art shows and galleries, was the Artist in Residence at the Coast Hotel in Victoria and is an Active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
Vancouver Island is her main inspiration, looking at the ocean, old cottages, community and wilderness. She works in her studio in Qualicum Beach, using acrylics, oils and watercolours to illustration the abundant beauty that surrounds us here.
