Alexa Johnston's handmade solid sterling silver Herkimer pendants.
Handmade - for everyday wear, please wear with care. Some tarnishing is expected on sterling silver, please polish gently with a polishing cloth.
Two variations: Sterling Silver and Oxidized Silver. Both variations come with an 18" sterling silver chain and clasp.
Oxidized silver is true sterling silver, with the surface intentionally darkened by using a chemical process. This patina, or surface colour, which occurs when the silver is introduced to sulfides, is a sped-up version of the natural tarnishing process. A layer of silver sulfide forms on the surface giving it a blackened look.
As far back as she can remember, Alexa has always been drawn to making art and mess with her hands. She has loved and explored all types of materials from painting with acrylics/watercolours to gold and silversmithing. As an abstract artist, Alexa draws inspiration from nature and her surroundings. She loves being enveloped by the ocean and the forests around her home on Vancouver Island. Where Alexa is in the world appears in her work and feels both vibrant and ethereal. Surrounded by the beauty of nature in the Pacific Northwest, its colours, shapes, and textures are often woven throughout her work.
