In this class students will be introduced to monotype, a painterly form of printmaking that results in one unique print from each printmaking plate prepared. In this class we will be using water-soluble materials, watercolours, gouache, pencils and crayons.
In this class students will be introduced to all the steps necessary to prepared a printmaking plate for monotype printmaking with water-soluble materials as well as how to create a final image.
With guidance and demonstration throughout the process each student will create two images per plate, one monotype print and a second “ghost" print, made from the residual materials left on the plate after the first printing.
Students are encouraged to come with pictures and sketches as source material. This class has no specific theme however images of florals and landscapes work well.
Supply List
Students will need to bring their own water-soluble materials (watercolours, gouache, pencils and crayons), as well as brushes. There will be a $15 materials fee due on the day of class for printmaking plates and paper.
All classes and workshops are non-refundable. Cancellations made 7 days, or more in advance of the workshop or class date will receive 100% credit. 6 days before class, and no credit will be issued.
