Experienced printmaker Maria Tratt will lead this 2-day workshop. Students will be introduced to monotype, a painterly form of monoprinting. Using water-soluble materials — watercolours, gouache, pencils and crayons — each student will create 2 images on plexiglass plates (1 on each day) and will create 2 prints of each plate; a “true” print, the original, as well as a ghost print, made from the residual materials left on the plate after the first printing. The theme is theirs to choose and students are encouraged to bring in pictures and sketches as source material. Time permitting, we will discuss and work back into their prints. Demonstrations will occur at each stage of the process, students will receive individual feedback and all will have the opportunity to partake in a friendly, final critique.
$30 Materials Fee
All classes and workshops are non-refundable. Cancellations made 7 days, or more in advance of the workshop or class date will receive 100% credit. 6 days before class, and no credit will be issued.
