$175 plus $40 for material fees to be paid to the instructor
Learn to design inspired, whimsical textile works of art through the process of inuitive collage using monoprinting, applique and stitch. I will guide you through a creative journey of abstract expression with paint, fabric and thread. We will begin by creating a visually interesting underpainting. You will learn how to lift successful fabric prints using the gelli plate and experiment with watercolour on fabric. Then we will move onto designing the collage by assembling layers of fabric, lace and fiber bits, and later alter it once again to achieve unexpected results. Finally we'll bring it all together with the contemplative art of slow stitching. We may use a sewing machine for some simple stitching if inspiration leads us in that direction. By the end of this course you will have designed an expressive fabric art scroll.
Material fees include a fabric and lace kit (to keep) and use of teacher supplied gel plate, brayer, marking tools and paint (to be returned at the end of each class). Additional fabric kits will be available for $15
All classes and workshops are non-refundable. Cancellations made 7 days, or more in advance of the workshop or class date will receive 100% credit. 6 days before class, and no credit will be issued.
