Rather than putting emphasis on finishing a complete landscape or still life every class we will break down the usual components into intense subject studies. Each week over the 4 week set of classes a different subject can be tackled, for instance week #1 may be a study of rocks in many formations from pebbles to a cliff face. Some of the subject matter will consist of trees and foliage, - clouds, skies and weather conditions,  -moving and still water. At the end of the set these elements can all be combined to create a more comprehensive finished piece.
Supply List:
  • Brushes - at a minimum you will need 3 brushes -- a 1" flat brush, 1 #6 or#7 round, and a #3 or #4 liner ( or rigger) brush. Some other brushes you might like are mop brushes ( hold a lot of water) and a small hake ( pronounced 'Hawkay') which are usually inexpensive
  • At least a couple of sheets of 140 lb. cold press ( also called NOT or medium) paper. As we are going to be doing a lot of individual studies it might also be good to have a 'pad' of watercolour paper as well
  • Sketch pad, pencil, eraser
  • Paints; 5 colours of artist quality paint as a starter set that I recommend are -- permanent rose, new gamboge yellow ( or any transparent warm yellow), ultramarine blue, thalo or windsor blue, and burnt sienna. There are lots of other colours available but you should be able to mix just about anything with these colours.
  • clean rags or paper towel
  • a little container of salt
  • masking tape
  • an old credit card
  • a palette in which to mix colours
  • a board to support your paper

All classes and workshops are non-refundable. Cancellations made 7 days or more in advance of the workshop or class date will receive 100% credit. 6 days before class and no credit will be issued.
